Coaching Staff

Lauren Moravchik brings to Mountain Selects a genuine joy for teaching and learning, a love of hockey, and an adventurous spirit. She is excited to support girls’ hockey operations in whatever way she can—just as her coaches supported and guided her throughout her own playing career, from youth hockey through college. 

Originally from New Prague, Minnesota, Lauren grew up playing Trojan Hockey in the youth and high school programs. Following a breakout junior season, she was named a varsity captain her senior year. 

Lauren graduated from Lawrence University in 2025 with triple majors in Economics, Business Analytics, and German Studies, along with a minor in Computer Science. While at Lawrence, she was a member of the Vikings women’s varsity hockey team and served as a team captain. She was also a four-time Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Academic All-Conference student-athlete. 

Lauren volunteers as the Head Coach of the 10U girls’ team for Aspen Junior Hockey (AJH). She was honored to receive the 2025–2026 Peter Whitmore Coach of the Year Award, and also leads AJH’s girls’ hockey spring skills and skating proficiency camps. 

Raised on the lakes of Minnesota and Wisconsin, Lauren grew up swimming, boating, fishing, water-skiing, and ice-skating. Her love of the outdoors has remained an important part of her life. 

Lauren is prepared and eager to bring her passion for hockey, coaching, and continued learning to Mountain Selects, while embracing the opportunity to experience the exceptional beauty and adventure of every season in Aspen and the greater Roaring Fork Valley. 

Chris grew up in Berks County Pennsylvania where his passion for hockey grew at the rink and on the local ponds. After attending Marshall University and receiving a BA in European History, Chris moved to the mountains of Colorado to pursue his passion for the outdoors and mountain living. Over his tenure as director, Chris has coached at all age and skill levels with the mission of developing great hockey players and better human beings.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Jake first fell in love with hockey as a child, going to watch Penguins games with his dad and playing ball hockey in his basement. He began playing organized hockey as a Squirt B player. He finished his youth career playing Midget AAA for the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins and was a 3-year letterman and captain at Fox Chapel High School.

During those years, he first became involved in coaching by working at hockey camps in the summers and also serving as an assistant coach with his High School team during his Senior year while recovering from a long-term injury.

After high school, he took some time off from playing ice hockey, instead playing club inline hockey for the University of Pittsburgh. He also played elite Men’s inline for the Pittsburgh Phantoms and the Scottsdale Inferno.

After moving to Steamboat, he found his way back into coaching, first as an assistant with the Steamboat Wranglers and then, the following year, as an assistant with the Steamboat High School program.

Coach Trace grew up in St. Louis playing roller hockey and for the Jr. Blues AAA program. He went on to play for Endicott College (NCAA DIII) & CU Boulder (ACHA D1).

At CU, he served as the Assistant Captain his Senior year and received an undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He went on to earn a Master’s in Integrative Physiology, while serving as the Assistant Coach for a season before leading as the Head Coach for the ACHA D1 team for two seasons.

Coach Trace is expected to bring his knowledge and experience to the staff and the mental side as Head Coach of the game. He takes pride in teaching players to keep a balanced, focused mindset while pursuing excellence in the details of the game.

RJ began his coaching career as a student coach in Illinois. Since moving to Colorado, he has gained experience as the on-ice Program Director for the Vail Recreation District Mite Program, Head Coach for Battle Mountain JV, and the VSSA Hockey Program.

Currently, RJ serves as a Head Coach for both the Vail Mountaineers Hockey Club and Mountain Select Hockey.

Dom Panetta (Coach Dom) is 35 y/o living in Minturn with a passion for hockey development. Dom's mom was a figure skating coach and taught him how to skate when he was 1 year old. His dad is a Level 5 USA Hockey coach who inspired him to start coaching at a young age. Dom played at high levels throughout his hockey career including Prep School, NAHL, USHL, & NCAA Division 1. Now Dom plays for the Vail Yeti where he continues to hone his craft and brings his player experience to coaching. Dom's goal this season is to help our players grow their skills, hold themselves accountable, and become leaders on and off the ice.

• Currently Playing for the Vail Yeti

• Coached Ferris State Hockey Camps for 5 years
• Coached with the Arizona Coyotes Alumni Association for 3 years
• Coached with the Colorado Avalanche Alumni for 1 year
• Coaches Battle Mountain High School's JV team
• Coaches at VSSA during the winter season

Viacheslav Goev was born in Krasnodar, Russia. Goev played his youth hockey in Russia, Slovakia, and the United States. He came to Aspen to play on the Aspen Leafs RMJHL U20 team for two seasons, bringing home the RMJHL Championship in 2016. Slava was named the MVP of the RMJHL defenseman in 2017, as well as honored with the Daily Award Sportsmanship Award. He played his last year of U20 hockey for the USPHL Hampton Road Whalers, bringing home another Championship in 2018. He settled back in Aspen and joined the AJH coaching staff in 2018. As the current AJH development coach, he is involved at every age level, bringing his expertise in skating and skills to each player, and is currently a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach. Viacheslav, his wife Iryna, daughter Makayla, and stepson Dominic live in the Aspen area.
